The work of SmilingKidsNamibia e.V. is diverse, but always focuses on improving the mental health of children and their families in Namibia. Mainly through
play and theater experiences in all possible forms, but by and large also through other individual improvements in mental health. As we did not want to miss out on the opportunity to distribute
food donations or toys as well as other donations in kind such as clothing, we decided to include this in our statutes when we founded the NGO. The contact
persons are always the clowns and artists and the distribution of donations in kind is usually accompanied by a performance full of lightness and humorous moments.
This is how the purpose of the association is formulated verbatim in our articles of association:
"The purpose of the association is to promote mental health and improve the general well-being of children, adolescents and adults in Namibia. In
particular, the focus is on promoting the field of work of the so-called "health clowns" or "clinic clowns". The purpose of the statutes is realized through regular performances and
assignments of clowns, storytellers, magicians and actors as well as volunteers who bring theatrical experiences and play into different contexts in which the above-mentioned groups of people
need emotional relief, such as hospitals, orphanages, women's shelters, youth centers, kindergartens, schools or soup kitchens with a focus on implementation in the township
environments. In order to fulfill the overall concept of holistic emotional relief, food and donations in kind can be distributed in addition to the
performances or joint play."
